BTS and Their Journey Toward Industry Domination
Ever since their debut as a group, BTS has worked nonstop to bring one of the most popular music genres to a completely different level. Their group has been dominating the music industry for quite some time and have created an opening for more boy groups to become popular.
BTS started to gain recognition in the year 2013. They started off as trainees and went through the rigorous process of becoming K-pop idols. The band is made up of seven members that each have their own set of talents that they bring to the table. The seven members consist of Kim Namjoon (RM) who’s the leader, Kim Seokjin (Jin), Min Yoongi (Suga), Jung Hoseok (J-Hope), Park Jimin (Jimin), Kim Taehyung (V), and Jeon Jungkook (Jungkook). These seven individuals formed into one group have been very successful and have changed the playing field of the music industry.
The name BTS stands for Bangtan Boys, but the group simplified their name into BTS after gaining international recognition. Throughout their music journey, they have released nine albums in total. Those nine albums are very well known, and still incredibly famous. The first album that brought BTS to the spotlight was Love Yourself: Tear. It was the album that made them stand out as a group.
One of the most viewed and heard songs in Love Yourself: Tear album is no other than “Fake Love.” “Forbes” actually released an article called “BTS ‘Fake Love’ Video Scores Best 24-Hour Youtube Debut of 2018, Third-Highest Overall,” which gave a summary of the music video “Fake Love.” In the video’s first 24 hours, it reached over 35.9 million views on Youtube, which broke the record of the most views in one day in Youtube history.
Their album released songs that connected to millions of fans, which they refer to as “ARMY.” ARMY are millions of individuals that support BTS through thick and thin. At DVC, there is an ARMY member named Liz Trejo, a senior at DVC, who is the ultimate BTS fan. She has many exciting thoughts on BTS’ messages throughout their music and their fans overall.
“Especially like the message of the platform that they’ve created for themselves, talking about having a safe place for the youth, voices and opinions of young people around the world, and even non-violence advocates,” Trejo said.
BTS is now considered to be one of the most famous male groups in history. They are overly gifted with so many talents that aren’t quite seen in any other boy groups. Sky Coleman, a senior at DVC, gave an amazing overall summary of why she personally likes BTS. “They aren’t your typical entertainment artist, I would say that they go over the top with all their performances and they produce everything almost always by themselves,” Coleman said.
The music industry is now being dominated and precisely those specific individuals who are dominating the music industry are none other than the male K-pop group BTS.

I really liked how you formatted your article, to not only provide the context of who the members are and where they are based but also their achievements and success not only in S. Korea but also globally. I feel like it added a lot of depth to your article, especially if people weren’t aware of who they were, what BTS stood for, etc. I also enjoyed hearing about what their overall message is, and how that message is positively reflected upon their music.

This article was very informing and had great Intel on the group itself. I really liked how you gave a lot of background information about the band in general and stated detailed information they are known for. Also, it was impressive how you included specific dates on events they did and when they made their highest achievements. The quotes were also really impactful to the article and great opinions for the band. Overall, this article was really well-written and had amazing points!

I love this article! Bangtan Sonyeondan or the Bangtan Boy Scouts are powerful in the music industry and have really brought a lot of honor to South Korea and a lot of hope to other foreign music groups looked down on that they too can dominate in America even if English isn’t their first language. And I know there are people of other cultures that have gotten insanely popular in America but BTS, either way, has definitely made history
