“On August 12, Popeyes released its new chicken sandwich nationwide, which immediately grew in popularity and sparked a frenzy on social media.

People all over Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat began to rave about how delicious this new Popeyes Chicken Sandwich was. After a week of the new sandwich receiving positive feedback, their rival, Chick-Fil-A, tweeted about their own original chicken sandwich in an attempt to claim ownership of the sandwich and throw some shade at Popeyes. Popeyes then shot back at Chick-Fil-A by replying to the tweet and the war of the chicken sandwiches began.

Chick-fil-a dissing the Popeyes chicken sandwich seven days after the release nationwide, Popeyes then responds.

“It’s worth the hype… but not worth standing in a thirty-minute line,” said junior Isaiah Fierro.

Other fast-food chains joined in on this Twitter feud. As this sandwich debate got more attention, more people began to take sides between the two and discussed which sandwich they like best.

“I think that the Popeyes chicken sandwich is way better than the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich. The Popeyes chicken sandwich has a lot more flavor,” said junior Ajana Williams.

The Popeyes chicken sandwich has a special mayo that they put on their sandwich that Chick-Fil-A does not. The Popeyes chicken sandwich’s ingredients are fried chicken filet, sour pickles, and creamy mayo on two soft brioche buns. The ingredients in the Popeyes chicken sandwich are pretty similar to the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich which contains boneless chicken breast seasoned and cooked in peanut oil, two buttered buns, dill pickle chips and cheese.

“The chicken was nice and juicy and the bread wasn’t too bad… I would prefer the spicy Popeyes chicken sandwich over the original Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich,” said freshman Jordan Howell.

“But I did think it was phenomenal. Yeah, I loved it,” said Academic Coach Stacy Espana about the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.

Although some people now prefer the Popeyes chicken sandwich instead of the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich, many people still side with Chick-fil-a.

” Chick-Fil-A. I don’t know what’s different about it but I feel like it kind of like soaks in your mouth. So it just tastes good. I feel like you can really absorb the flavor out of Chick-fil-a,” said junior Dejah Pope.

Vitruvian Post Reporter Valerie Palomo had the opportunity to try the sandwich for herself and contributed to the national debate and here’s what she had to say.

When ordering the Popeyes chicken sandwich, there are two options: classic and spicy.

Many people who have tried the spicy chicken sandwich have said that it is better than the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich,  but I like the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich better than both the classic and spicy. The bread on the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich is sweeter and is good when dipped in ranch. Although the mayo on the Popeyes chicken sandwich did add more flavor to it, I still felt that the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich tasted better. The Popeyes chicken sandwich was still very good, but maybe it would have tasted better if I had dipped it in a sauce.

In the past years, the Chick-Fil-A sandwich has been arguably the best chicken sandwich.  But now that Popeyes has released their new chicken sandwich, the conversation sparks on which sandwich is ultimately the best.

Although many people have their own opinions on the different chicken sandwiches, the nationwide debate continues.
